self build waterproof basement formwork membrane concrete electrics

Basement Electrics.

If you are tempted, by the recent series "The World's Most Extraordinary Homes" or my argument you should maximise thermal mass, you might deliberately have bare concrete walls.

Over the years a couple of clients buried their electrics in the concrete.

The main problem is concrete tends to bleed slurry where it can, so you need to be thorough preventing cement slurry getting into your boxes or conduits.

Both of them tried to fix to large formwork panels. Could be easier fixing to boards.

This first installation was by a qualified electrician, so presumably OK his running cable in the concrete without conduit.

This second installation was by an IT consultant. He ran conduit through the concrete.
